Lauderdale By The Sea
The Town of Lauderdale -By-The-Sea is located on Florida’s Gold Coast in Broward County, Florida. It is situated between the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. It is bordered on the south by the city of Fort Lauderdale and on the north by the City of Pompano Beach. The entire Town is located on a barrier Island that is 7- feet above sea level. Lauderdale-By-The-Beach is 30 miles north of Miami and 33 miles south of Palm Beach.
Incorporated in 1927, the community is called the “prettiest small town in America”.The strict building height limitations mean the charm of individual houses and large trees will remain. The Pelican Hopper shuttle bus provides free rides through the village, and the town’s coral reefs, beloved by snorkelers and scuba divers who don’t need a boat to reach them, have made this the shore dive capitol of South Florida. The beach is also an annual nursery for loggerhead sea turtles, and everyone keeps a protective eye out for them during nesting season.
