Coral Ridge
Is an upscale waterfront community located between Sunrise Boulevard and Oakland Park Boulevard and West of the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale. The shops at Coral Ridge Mall offers great restaurants, specialty shops, eight movie theaters and a superb grocery. Coral Ridge is a large neighborhood on a peninsula with the intracoastal waterway on the east and the Middle River on the west. This is a beautiful neighborhood with large estate homes on the intracoastal, smaller (you know, 2500sf) homes on the canals and a few mid-rise and smaller, older condominiums.
This neighborhood really has it all; great location close to the beach, great schools, the Galleria Mall and other shopping, it’s own yacht club, George English Park has its own boat launch, sports fields and great tennis courts, and the Coral Ridge Country Club is just across Oakland Park Blvd. Here you are 5 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to downtown, and 20 minutes to the International Airport.
There are three distinct areas of waterfront in this neighborhood. In the area south of Sunrise Blvd. you only need to pass under the Las Olas Blvd. bridge with a 24’ clearance and the 17th St. Causeway with a 55’ clearance. Both bridges open on demand, the 17th St. Bridge at 15 min. intervals if necessary. If you live north of Sunrise Blvd. on the intracoastal side, add the Sunrise Blvd. bridge with 24’ clearance and opens upon request. There is a fixed bridge with only a 6’ clearance at the mouth of the Middle River so this last area north of Sunrise Blvd. is limited to smaller boats. Water-frontage ranges widely from 50 to over 200’. Subtract 10’ from your waterfront and that is how long your dock and boat(s) can be. The intracoastal is 300’+ wide and the canals range from 100-110’ wide. You can take up 1/3 of the canal including your dock and boat so this area gives you plenty of space for any sized boat. Depth varies so check the nautical charts for more accurate information on specific canals. It only takes 10-20 minutes to reach the open water from any part of the neighborhood.
